SHCA Ruth Ravich Founders Award

The Society for Healthcare Consumer Advocacy (SHCA) Board of Directors established the Ruth Ravich Founders' Award to recognize those individuals whose work supports the vision of the Society - to bring the patients' needs to the center of healthcare. The first award was presented in 1991 to Ruth Ravich, the Society's first president, and for whom the award is named. The award may be given to anyone working in the health care field and Society membership is not a requirement.

Nominees will have demonstrated dedication to patient advocacy through at least one of the following criteria:

  1. a public identity that raises awareness about the rights of people seeing healthcare
  2. outstanding service to a community of people seeking healthcare
  3. significant service in furthering the public image of the health care consumer advocacy roll, or
  4. contribution of time and service to SHCA.
