Negotiations on economic recovery package ongoing; urge your legislators to reverse the capital IME cut
(IME) cut for capital costs for fiscal year (FY) 2009. The capital IME adjustment, which took effect late last year as part of the inpatient prospective payment system final rule for FY 2009, would cut approximately $200 million in funding for teaching hospitals.
As negotiations get underway on the final bill, we must remain vigilant. This unnecessary cut ignores how vital capital investment is to securing the latest medical technology and the ongoing maintenance and improvement of hospital facilities. It must be reversed.
Please contact your legislators today and ask them to urge their respective party leaders to ensure that the reversal of the capital IME cut is included in the final economic recovery package that is sent to the President.
