2008 AHA Membership Meeting

Dear Colleague:

Like every election year, 2008 will be a time of transition, discussion and reflection.

As a hospital executive, you bring a unique perspective to the latest national conversation about how to create a better system of health and health care. Your leadership and countless acts of compassion not only inspire the people whose lives you touch, and the communities you care for, but they give you a powerful voice for change.

The 2008 Annual Membership Meeting theme, Vision to Action: Local Leadership, National
is a reflection of the important role you play in your community, and the AHA’s
commitment to ensuring that your wisdom, talent and energy continues to be a positive,
driving force behind improving American health care.

This year’s meeting, April 6–9, will provide an excellent forum for sharing your ideas directly
with the men and women who shape national health care policy. But just as important, it will
be a terrific opportunity to reconnect with distant friends and former colleagues, make new
friends, and learn from some of the best and brightest minds in health care—our members.
As you have come to expect, the 2008 Annual Membership Meeting will include sessions that
provoke thought, debate and laughter. This year’s speakers will share their wisdom and insight
on some of the most pressing issues facing our nation, including health care reform, and will
address topics critical to your facilities, including quality, patient safety and health information
technology. . . just to name a few. And, as always, you will have the opportunity to earn ACHE
continuing education credit.

So please mark your calendars and plan to join us this April for a celebration of America’s
hospitals. I look forward to welcoming you to Washington!
