Patient Safety Awareness Week March 12 – 18, 2017

Patient Safety Awereness WeekSafety is the cornerstone of providing high-quality care to patients. In America’s hospitals, patient safety is the top priority 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

Patient Safety Awareness Week is observed annually to increase knowledge and interest about patient safety and engage health care professionals and the public. The National Patient Safety Foundation leads the initiative and plans activities during the week.

Across the AHA, events and activities are planned during Patient Safety Awareness Week. The AHA also offers many resources on patient safety topics, including building a culture of safety, improving teamwork and communication, engaging patients and families to improve patient safety, preventing health care-acquired infections and adverse drug events, and more.
