North Oaks Health System, Hammond, LA
North Oaks Health System in Hammond, LA, is spreading the “We Care, We Vote” message amongst its employees by incorporating the initiative's key messages in its employee communications.
“Weekly Vitals,” North Oaks Health System's weekly employee newsletter, recently highlighted how employees can take advantage of the summer congressional recess to make their concerns heard with their legislators.
“As we anticipate health care changes and strategically position ourselves for the future, it is vital that our employees are informed and engaged,” affirms James E. Cathey Jr., president and CEO of North Oaks Health System. “Never before has there been a more critical need for their voices to be heard.”
They also shared key dates and reminders about Louisiana's voter registration rules and urged employees to be sure they were registered to vote in November.
At www.aha.org/wecarewevotetoolkit you'll find resources to help encourage your employees to register and vote.
You'll find resources for engaging your extended hospital family - employees, physicians, nurses, trustees, volunteers and vendors - so that they understand the challenges facing the field and are empowered to advocate for your hospital.
You'll find a guide to help educate your elected officials and candidates on health care and the deficit and the challenges ahead. In addition, you'll find resources to help enhance your meetings with lawmakers so that you can be a more effective advocate for your patients, your hospital and your community.
Please join this important initiative. We need to let the candidates know that the hospital family cares … and that we vote.
