The Honorable Susan Collins
United States Senate
172 Russell Senate Office Building
Washington, DC 20510
Dear Senator Collins:
On behalf of our many hospitals, health care systems, networks and other providers of care, we are writing to express our strong support for your state fiscal relief amendment to be offered during Senate consideration of the "Jobs and Growth Tax Act of 2003." Your amendment would provide critically needed fiscal relief to states by providing a temporary increase in the Medicaid federal medical assistance percentage (FMAP) as well as provide block grant funding to states. Your amendment would give immediate, critical federal support to states as they face the worst fiscal crisis in 50 years.
Our health care provider members realize every day that states require immediate fiscal relief to ensure that vulnerable populations - the disabled, low-income and elderly - receive needed health care services.
Again, we strongly support your state fiscal relief amendment and will work to help ensure its passage and enactment.
