CODING RESOURCES FOR HCPCS
The AHA Central Office on Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) was developed in January 2001 to provide consistent and accurate advice to hospitals for appropriate and effective application of the HCPCS classification system. In 2006, it was designated the only official clearinghouse for information on the proper use of Level I HCPCS (CPT-4 codes) for hospital providers and certain Level II HCPCS codes for hospitals, physicians and other health professionals.
This service provides coding advice and publishes a quarterly newsletter, AHA Coding Clinic® on HCPCS, to address HCPCS (Level I CPT and certain Level II national HCPCS) related issues for institutional providers.
For information on submitting a question or subscribing to AHA Coding Clinic® on HCPCS, please visit www.ahacentraloffice.org.
