Home Health Pay for Performance Demonstration (HHP4P)
Home Health Pay for Performance Demonstration Enrollment Ends November 30
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) held a Special Open Door Forum on the Home Health Pay for Performance Demonstration (HHP4P) for Medicare certified HHAs and associations from the demonstration states. Background materials and audio replay information (available on November 19) are posted on the CMS website at http://hhp4p.info.
CMS is currently accepting enrollments for the HHP4P demonstration through November, 30, 2007. Participating home health agencies could receive payments for improvements in patient outcomes based on seven quality measures from the existing "Outcome-Based Quality Improvement" set, dependent on overall savings to the Medicare program. This demonstration is expected to precede a nationwide adoption of pay-for-performance for all home health providers in the Medicare program.
Seven states have been selected to participate in this demonstration: Connecticut, Massachusetts, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Illinois and California. All Medicare-certified HHAs in the demonstration states are eligible to participate. Demonstration operations will begin in January, 2008 and are scheduled to continue for two years through December 2009.
