Patient safety is one of the biggest challenges faced by healthcare organizations - are you ready to prevent adverse outcomes and improve patient safety?

This Webinar will cover all of the 2009 National Patient Safety Goals (NPSG) from the Joint Commission for hospitals. The Webinar will focus on the new ones. There are many changes in 2009. There is a renumbering of all the goals. The NPSG promote specific improvements in patient safety with proven solutions to persistent patient safety programs. Even hospitals that are not accredited by the Joint Commission should consider implementation of these goals. The Webinar will also focus on the more problematic ones.

Major changes include three new requirement related to infection control. This includes preventing health-care associated (HAI) infections due to multiple drug-resistant organisms (MDROs), central line-associated bloodstream infections and surgical site infections. There are also changes to the patient identification standard to help prevent blood transfusion errors. There are welcomed changes to the medication reconciliation goal. There are changes to goal 13 (13.01.01) to encourage patient involvement in their care as a patient safety strategy. A very important change is made to three sections of the universal protocol goal to prevent wrong site surgery.
