The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released its FY 2011 final rule for the hospital inpatient and long-term care prospective payment systems (PPS) on July 30. The rule affects inpatient PPS hospitals, long-term care hospitals and critical access hospitals (CAH) and takes effect Oct. 1.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) on July 28 published a final rule defining "meaningful use" of electronic health records (EHRs). On July 2, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released the outpatient prospective payment system (OPPS) and ambulatory surgical center (ASC) proposed rule for calendar year (CY) 2011.
