The House voted 247-161 today to pass H.R. 1586, which contains a six-month extension through June 2011 of Medicaid's temporary enhanced Federal Medical Assistance Percentage (FMAP) for states. President Obama is expected to sign the bill into law later today. Learn More

The Senate voted 61-38 this morning to end debate on H.R. 1586, which contains a six-month extension through June 2011 of Medicaid's temporary enhanced Federal Medical Assistance Percentage (FMAP) for states, clearing the way for final passage later this week before the Senate breaks for its August recess. Ignoring concerns expressed by America's hospitals and a majority of both houses of Congress, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) late today issued its hospital inpatient and long-term care prospective payment system final rule for fiscal year (FY) 2011 that finalizes its proposed 2.9 percent "coding offset."
