2006 Chair Metropolitan Hospitals Kim Hollon
Kim Hollon, executive vice president of clinical operations of Methodist Health System in Dallas, will lead the American Hospital Association’s (AHA) Section for Metropolitan Hospitals as chair of its 21-member governing council for 2006. The Section is a forum for suburban and urban hospitals to discuss common interests and concerns and to participate in the AHA policy process.
Methodist Health System is one of Dallas’ oldest nonprofit health systems, serving almost a million residents in the southern Dallas region. The 600 physicians on the Methodist medical staff represent more than 60 specialties, from prevention-based family medicine to the emerging field of hyperbaric medicine. Methodist features one of the region’s most advanced heart centers; a neonatal intensive care unit with one of the country’s highest survival rates; one of only three trauma centers in Dallas; and one of the largest and most active adult kidney, pancreas and liver transplant centers in the Southwest. Prior to joining Methodist Health System, Hollon was the executive vice president of Methodist Dallas Medical Center, a 463- bed teaching hospital under the larger Methodist Health System.
Joyce Murphy, vice-chancellor and COO of University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worchester, Mass. is this year’s chair-elect. Brue Chandler, senior vice president and administrator, Baptist Hospital of East Tennessee, Knoxville, Tenn., is immediate past chair.
The Metropolitan governing council advises the AHA on federal policy issues. Elected members serve three-year terms. Newly elected members include: Robert Colvin, president and CEO, Memorial Health, Savannah, Ga.; Lee Domanico, chief executive officer, Legacy Health System, Portland, Ore.; Michelle Hood, president and CEO, St. Vincent Healthcare, Billings, Mont.; Gary Horan, president and CEO, Trinitas Health & Hospital, Elizabeth, N.J.; Julie Quirin, president and CEO, Saint Luke’s South Hospital, Overland Park, Kan.; David D. Whitaker, president and CEO, Norman Regional Hospital, Norman, Okla.; and Iris Taylor, president, Detroit Receiving Hospital and University Health Center, Detroit, Mich., has been appointed to fill a vacant position with a term expiring in December 2007.

Delaware Valley Healthcare Council, Philadelphia, Penn.; and Stanley Hupfeld, president and CEO, INTEGRIS Health, Oklahoma City, Okla. who serves as the AHA board liaison to the section.
