Needed: Action on Disparities
Rich Umbdenstock, AHA President and CEO
For the first time, racial and ethnic minorities now make up more than half the children born in the U.S. This underlines the urgent need to take action now to eliminate disparities in health care. Attend AHA's Institute for Diversity in Health Management's (IFD) conference June 5-6 in Nashville - the agenda focuses on recruiting, retaining and promoting a diverse executive team and benchmark survey findings on diversity in health care management. If you can't make it, check the Equity of Care website, built by the AHA and its partners in the National Call to Action to Eliminate Disparities in Health Care, which provides resources to reach the goals of increasing collection of race, ethnicity and language data, cultural competency training and diversity in leadership. Hospitals in Pursuit of Excellence has more great resources. Let's step up the game today to meet the needs of tomorrow's patients.
