Honor with Service

Rich Umbdenstock, AHA President and CEO

The special relationship between America's hospitals and the men and women of our military services, especially during times of war, continues to grow. Historically, hospitals not only cared for the wounded but trained the nurses who opened the doors to military service for women. Today, hospitals play an increasingly important role in helping returning service members face unique medical, social and emotional challenges. This Memorial Day, we proudly remember those who have given their lives for our freedom. And to honor our returning warriors, the American Hospital Association is entering a partnership with the Defense Centers of Excellence for Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury to highlight the wealth of resources available to the hospitals in every community proudly serving service members with visible, and not-so-visible, wounds. Look for more about this partnership in your mailbox. And please stay safe this Memorial Day weekend.
