We Care . . . We Vote
Rich Umbdenstock, AHA President and CEO
If you knew that a disaster could prevent patients from getting the care they need from your hospital, would you start preparing? Of course. Well, no matter who's in power after the election, debate over the national debt and deficit will dominate the national agenda. Medicare and Medicaid account for more than 20% of federal spending, so they will be a big part of the discussion. Your leadership is needed now to prepare a foundation with legislators, and potential legislators. The AHA has launched “We Care, We Vote.” so as we lead up to November, you can help all stakeholders understand hospitals' challenges, how you're increasing value, and the public policy changes the nation needs and those we should avoid. There's a toolkit to help you engage your extended hospital family in ensuring access to care for your patients and your community. Let the candidates know that the hospital family cares…and that we vote.
