We know a few things about the Supreme Court's decision regarding the Affordable Care Act: that we'll likely have a decision next week, and that any decision they make will have a huge impact on health coverage for millions of Americans. We also know what will not change, regardless of the court's decision. Hospitals will face tough challenges to meet the needs of patients and communities. You will continue to move from volume to value; to use evidence-based practices to improve safety and quality; and to align efforts of caregivers towards greater continuity of care. We can also be confident that as the year ends and legislators focus on addressing the deficit and debt, hospitals will need to help their legislators understand the local impact of any further proposed cuts to hospital funding - because it will be supremely important to patients and communities.
