Team Time

Rich Umbdenstock, AHA President and CEO

Teamwork is not always intuitive, but it is imperative in today's health care, where caregivers and hospitals are striving to align their efforts to provide high-value care.  The AHA's Physician Leadership Forum was created to support this work and is committed to providing hospitals and physician leaders with the learning opportunities they need to effectively manage both costs and clinical quality together.  This month, as hospitals welcome a new crop of residents, the PLF has issued Lifelong Learning: Physician Competency Development, a valuable white paper that looks at how hospitals and others can best prepare physicians during residency and throughout their careers to lead care delivery teams.  The paper itself is the result of a highly collaborative effort of the PLF, AHA governance, and numerous organizations involved in medical education and training. Thanks to all who had a hand in producing this important paper.

Thanks,
Rich
