Flattery Will Get You Everywhere

Rich Umbdenstock, AHA President and CEO

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, we already have the solutions to many of the challenges facing us in this tumultuous time in health care.  Management guru Jim Collins told the crowd assembled for the American Hospital Association and Health Forum Leadership Summit this week in San Francisco that successful organizations copy what works and scale it to meet their needs.  That is just what the AHA is doing with our Hospitals in Pursuit of Excellence initiative – helping hospitals accelerate performance by identifying what is working in the hospital field and other industries and then sharing it with all of you.  Why reinvent the wheel when you can learn from a broad array of case studies, toolkits and other valuable resources on all the most pressing topics for hospitals?  Go ahead – start imitating.

Thanks,
Rich
