The Future Is Now

Rich Umbdenstock, AHA President and CEO

If the term “lame-duck Congress” doesn't conjure up an image of frenetic activity, think again. Your legislators have a heavy agenda to consider in the weeks ahead. Hospitals' immediate priorities: addressing the Medicare physician payment issue and Medicare extenders - and ensuring that payments for hospital services are not reduced to offset costs. Thanks to your “We Care, We Vote” election season efforts, we hope we have created a better climate for conversations in the weeks and months ahead that address real reform to improve our nation's health care system for patients and communities. But cuts to hospital care are not real reform. The election has made it clear that the future is now: the Affordable Care Act will move forward, and hospitals will continue to both improve the quality and reduce the cost of health care.

Thanks,
Rich
