Deck the Halls - With Hospitals

Rich Umbdenstock, AHA President and CEO

The halls of Congress rang with hospital leaders this week, delivering a refrain that they will keep repeating after the holiday songs stop playing, throughout the lame-duck Congress: We need real long-term solutions to strengthen our nation's health care system, not arbitrary cuts that undermine hospitals' ability to care. Our patients and communities are counting on us to be Prepared to Care. If you could not join us for our Nov. 29 AHA Advocacy Day, please plan to be here Dec. 11. Congress must make some tough decisions that will critically affect America's hospitals in the weeks ahead, including what to do with the Medicare physician payment fix, the sequester, Medicare extenders, and other expiring tax provisions. Your voice, representing the people who rely on your hospital, is an essential part of the chorus.

Thanks,
Rich
