What Makes You So Important?

Rich Umbdenstock, AHA President and CEO

Hospital leaders – executives, trustees, volunteers – are important to their communities every day. Right now, you are absolutely critical in Washington. Over the next 10 weeks, Congress will step close to three more fiscal cliffs when the debt ceiling is reached, sequestration kicks in and federal funding expires. And each time, hospital funding will be on the line. That's why we are having two Advocacy Days in Washington, February 13 and February 26. Both are key opportunities for hospital leaders to help your legislators understand that the kind of access to care your community relies on cannot survive repeated ratcheting of Medicare and Medicaid payments. Even if you have never joined us for an Advocacy Day before, I hope you will join us for one or both of these important events. Your voice really matters in this effort to put a stop to more arbitrary cuts.

Thanks,
Rich
