National Patient Safety Week

Rich Umbdenstock, AHA President and CEO

March 3-9 is National Patient Safety Week.  It's a great chance to not only celebrate the progress hospitals are making in improving safety but also to recommit to continuing - and even accelerating - this progress. The American Hospital Association is proud to serve as a catalyst and collaborator on a number of significant and successful patient safety efforts through our Hospitals in Pursuit of Excellence initiative and AHA's Health Research & Educational Trust. By working together and using the shared knowledge provided, caregivers are reducing central line-associated blood stream infections, readmissions, drug interactions, surgical site infections and more - while they increase the safety of every patient. The theme this year is "Patient Safety 7/365: 7 days of recognition, 365 days of commitment to safe care." We'll be sharing great stories on the many ways hospitals are improving patient safety all week, and we hope you will, too. Well done!

Thanks,
Rich
