A Healthier Tomorrow

Rich Umbdenstock, AHA President and CEO

How can we slow health care spending? The AHA has been hard at work on answers.  Now we have recommendations — interconnected strategies to improve the health care system and ensure the financial viability of our nation's health care programs while we tackle the federal debt and deficit. First, promote and reward accountability. We need to restructure the system in ways that promote and reward accountability — to and by patients, families and communities. This includes engaging individuals in their health and health care. Second, use limited health care dollars wisely - in ways that eliminate inefficiency and improve the quality of care for patients. Read more about initiatives and activities all stakeholders can take together in an important new report  from the AHA Board of Trustees, "Ensuring a Healthier Tomorrow: Actions to Strengthen Our Health Care System and Our Nation's Finances."

Thanks,
Rich
