We’re All Oklahomans

Rich Umbdenstock, AHA President and CEO

Our hearts go out to the people of Oklahoma as they cope with unbearable loss and face a daunting recovery after yesterday’s most devastating tornado. We also extend our support and encouragement to the first responders who immediately came to their aid and will continue their efforts for many days to come. The men and women of Moore Medical Center were true heroes, rushing to get all their patients to safety even as the tornado ripped their hospital apart. Other hospitals in south central Oklahoma snapped into action, putting in place their preparedness plans to receive evacuated patients, care for the injured and reunite families. Unfortunately, forecasters say that conditions could spawn more tornadoes in the days ahead. It’s a timely reminder that no matter where we live, preparedness is important in our hospitals and our homes. Today and in the days to come, we are all Oklahomans.
