Thanks, Veterans

Rich Umbdenstock, AHA President and CEO

We owe returning veterans more than thanks. Veterans deserve respect for the knowledge and skills they have attained during their service and the chance to put what they’ve learned to work in our communities – especially our hospitals. Hiring veterans is a win-win proposition: we benefit from their training and experience, and they get help in easing the transition from military to civilian health careers. That’s why the American Hospital Association is supporting “Joining Forces,” a national initiative to encourage hiring of America’s veterans. We are teaming up with the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Health Resources and Services Administration, the Department of Defense, state licensing and accrediting bodies and other stakeholders to provide hospitals with resources that will help them reach out to the vets in their communities. Show your support this Veterans Day by posting our special share graphic on your Facebook or Twitter page.
