While we couldn’t come together in July for the 2020 AHA Leadership Summit, the AHA Center for Health Innovation and the Society for Health Care Strategy & Market Development look forward to convening health care leaders for a virtual conference to share lessons learned and plans for the future as the field moves from response through recovery and on to rebuilding.

Navigating a New Reality: Health Care Leaders Confront the Future
A Virtual Conference on COVID-19 from Recovery to Rebuilding
September 14-16, 2020


This event will convene a diverse community of hospital and health systems leaders looking to innovate and strategize for the new era of care delivery post-COVID-19 around such topics as:

  • Financial implications and recovery
  • Strategic planning for future business models
  • Clinical innovations and new care models including those that address equity
  • The patient experience of virtual care and digital engagement
  • Workforce considerations including burnout, resiliency and reinvented roles
  • Consumer perceptions and communications strategies

  • Recognizing the ongoing efforts of hospitals and health systems fighting COVID-19 in their communities while also providing care for other patient needs, the American Hospital Association (AHA) has cancelled its Leadership Summit, scheduled for July 19-21 in San Diego, and all affiliated events. During this unprecedented time, we support California’s phased reopening which does not allow large events and understand that hospital and health system leaders must remain onsite. Elements of the Leadership Summit will transition to a series of virtual events and smaller regional meetings that will take place through the fall and early 2021.

  • Anyone who has registered for the Leadership Summit will receive a full refund. No action is required. Registrants will receive confirmation receipts via email upon completion of their refund within 14 business days.

  • The Manchester Grand Hyatt will automatically cancel all room reservations and refund deposits directly, within the coming days. If you have any questions regarding your reservation, you may call the Hyatt directly at 619-232-1234.

    AHA staff who made flight reservations through AHA’s American Express travel center must cancel their own reservations. A credit will be applied to your profile.

  • If you requested function space during AHA’s meeting, it has been automatically cancelled for you. No action is required. Please contact those that you’ve invited to your function and inform them of the cancellation. Should you need further assistance, please contact LeadershipSummit@aha.org.

  • If you have made dining reservations at the Manchester Grand Hyatt or other San Diego venues, please call and cancel at your earliest convenience.
