The July 4th holiday will be a long weekend vacation for most Americans, full of patriotic celebrations with family and friends, parades, picnics and fireworks. As we celebrate, it’s a good opportunity for everyone to reflect on the blessings of our liberty and the sacrifices made throughout history to keep our country free. And, let’s also remember the women and men who will be working this weekend and staffing over 900,000 beds and caring for patients in more than 5,000 hospitals across America. From emergency departments to ICUs, from obstetrical units to laboratories, therapy providers and community clinics, they are on duty providing continuing care to those already in their charge and ready to expertly tend to any emergency that crosses a hospital’s door. But that’s nothing new. That’s what we do 24/7/365 days a year. We’re always there, ready to care. On behalf of the American Hospital Association, its members and the dedicated men and women working for America’s hospitals, we wish you and your families the very best 4th of July.
