The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services today released a resource to help electronic health record vendors and others incorporate post-acute care assessment instrument data elements into electronic health record products to improve interoperability and facilitate care coordination. The Data Element Library provides a centralized database for accessing post-acute care assessment instrument data elements, such as questions and response options, and related health IT standards. “We’re excited to add this important building block to the foundation for interoperability that CMS is helping to establish,” said CMS Administrator Seema Verma.
