Hospitals, others can apply for HRSA rural residency grants
Rural hospitals and other eligible providers can apply through March 4 for a portion of $21 million in Health Resources and Services Administration grants to develop new rural residency programs or training tracks in family medicine, internal medicine and psychiatry to expand the physician workforce in rural areas. Hospitals, medical schools and community-based ambulatory settings with a rural designation, and consortia of urban and rural partnerships, are eligible to apply for the grants to support planning and development costs while achieving program accreditation through the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. The agency expects to award about 28 grants for projects beginning in August 2019. HRSA will provide more information on the grants and how to apply during a Dec. 17 webinar at 2 p.m. ET.
