Dignity Health and Catholic Health Initiatives announce executive leadership team for CommonSpirit Health

A highly experienced group of professionals has been named as the executive leaders for CommonSpirit Health, the new nonprofit Catholic health system created by the alignment of Catholic Health Initiatives and Dignity Health. These leaders will assume their new roles following the completion of the alignment, which is on track to close by Dec. 31. See a full listing here. 

The team, to be led by the future CEOs of CommonSpirit Health – Kevin Lofton, CEO of CHI, and Lloyd Dean, president/CEO of Dignity Health – will oversee a health system of more than 150,000 caregivers and support teams who will serve communities across 21 states. CommonSpirit Health will include hospitals, outpatient centers, home health agencies, assisted living and retirement communities, and community-based health programs.

UCHealth names president and CEO of University of Colorado Hospital

Denver-based UCHealth named Christopher Gessner president and CEO of University of Colorado Hospital on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colo., effective February 2019. He is currently serving as president of UPMC’s Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital, also in Pittsburgh. 

KPC Health System appoints CMO for two hospitals

Santa Ana, Calif.-based KPC Health System selected Sumanta Chaudhuri, M.D., to serve as chief medical officer of Hemet Valley Medical Center and Menifee Valley Medical Center, both in California. Chaudhuri most recently served as the program director of the transitional year internship for graduate medical residents at Hemet Valley Medical Center in California. 

Tenet Healthcare names chief medical operations officer

Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare has named Ernest Franklin, M.D., chief medical operations officer, effective Jan. 7. Franklin most recently served as senior vice president of clinical value and integration at Baylor Scott and White Health, also in Dallas.
