Knock Out the Noise on Artificial Intelligence
How to Responsibly Leverage AI to Reinvent Health Care

The global state of artificial intelligence (AI) in health care is moving toward systemic reinvention, not just innovation. At the same time, health care finds itself in an unprecedented moment of strain. Enterprises are excited to experiment and transform, but they face serious risk of taking action without discipline or focus on measurable value.

Traditional AI such as robotic process automation (RPA) and predictive modeling has already heavily penetrated health systems, but never before has our generation experienced the speed of innovation driven by generative AI. We’ve already seen generative AI (GenAI) reshape health care worker tasks, most notably in electronic health record (EHR) software integration of GPT-4 to generate patient chart summaries.

As providers and health systems adopt AI, from traditional to generative, AI increasingly touches every part of the enterprise. This adoption comes with financial, legal and ethical implications. Responsible AI (RAI) in health care is evolving into a discipline to drive value against organizational goals, compliance, and trust within the context of AI. RAI is now a mechanism to drive value for patients, providers, and operators. Data literacy must be elevated and issues like security, bias, and trust should be considered at every step in the AI life cycle. And in the end, we can’t lose sight of ensuring that this technology is deployed with a human-centered approach.

Join us as we take a deep dive on these topics with our panel of executive, clinical and administrative leaders who will talk about best practices, challenges and how we can usher in the future of health care together.

Attendees Will Learn:

  • Acknowledge market forces shaping the health AI landscape:
    • Rapid innovation.
    • Existing market challenges.
    • Regulatory immaturity for AI.
  • Evaluate how democratized access to GenAI is resulting in renewed calls for responsible AI and heightened standards of data/technology literacy.
  • Examine how leaders can “knock out the noise” to focus on core RAI priorities.
    • Value and return on investment.
    • Compliance, liability and reputational risk.
    • Security, privacy and consent.
    • Sustainability.
    • Trust, equity and bias.
    • Adoption and AI usage.
  • Explore how health organizations can lay a foundation that enables value and durability as technology and regulatory requirements evolve.

By attending the AHA Leadership virtual panel discussion "Knock Out the Noise on Artificial Intelligence" offered by the AHA, participants may earn up to 1 ACHE Qualified Education Hour toward initial certification or recertification of the Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) designation.
