100 Million Mask Challenge

We have seen the hospital field come together in amazing ways, rising to the challenge of the COVID-19 crisis and providing care to our communities. Health care workers are our most valuable resource when it comes to treating and stopping the spread of the virus. Our nation’s hospitals and health systems are working diligently to ensure the safety and well-being of the health care workforce. To respond to the PPE shortage, the American Hospital Association has launched a call to action to increase production and distribution of PPE to health care workers across the country.

How to Get Involved

Hospitals

Hospitals and health systems are developing new partnerships and looking at innovative solutions to access much-needed PPE for their staffs.

Manufacturers

Local businesses and manufacturers can be of service during this crisis. Please connect with your local hospitals and health systems to learn how you can keep health care professionals safe and protected.

Communities

Many communities and individuals are interested in supporting hospitals, health systems and our health care work force.

The Challenge

The 100 Million Mask Challenge was originally launched by Providence, headquartered in Washington State, where they have seen a tremendous outpouring of support from individuals, community organizations and local manufacturers.

The American Hospital Association has expanded the 100 Million Mask Challenge nationwide; calling on manufacturers, the business community and individuals to coordinate efforts—facilitate new relationships with hospitals and health systems—in order to produce needed PPE on a large scale for our nation’s health care heroes.

The 100 Million Mask Challenge will continue to evolve to meet the existing challenges and needs of our health care workers, hospitals and health systems as they battle the COVID-19 pandemic.
