Stronger Teams, Closer Care: Reimagining the Rural Maternal Health Workforce

A strong, skilled and sustainable workforce is essential to providing maternal care in rural communities and keeping that care close to home. But what does it take to build and sustain that workforce? Rural hospitals are finding that the answer is not simply adding more obstetricians — it’s building multidisciplinary teams, leveraging the skills and expertise of different providers, and creating flexible models of care that expand capacity and access.

Drawing on lessons from the American Hospital Association’s Keeping Care Close to Home: Innovations in Rural Maternal Health project, this webinar will highlight how rural hospitals are taking strategic approaches to building and sustaining their maternal care workforce. Leaders from Avera Health, Banner Health, Dartmouth Health and Western Wisconsin Health will share practical strategies for building teams, leveraging unique skills and expertise, developing the next generation of the workforce and sustaining maternal care.
