Hospitals add 15,700 jobs in May
Employment at the nation's hospitals rose by 0.32% in May to a seasonally adjusted 4,879,300 people, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. That's 15,700 more people than in April and 101,800 more than a year ago. Without the seasonal adjustment, which removes the effect of fluctuations due to seasonal events, hospitals employed 4,870,800 people in May – 14,900 more than in April and 98,500 more than a year ago. The nation's overall unemployment rate rose by 0.1 percentage point in May to 5.5%.
