The Department of Health and Human Services today awarded $228.5 million to states, territories and metropolitan areas for the Hospital Preparedness Program in fiscal year 2015, and $611 million for the Public Health Emergency Preparedness Program. Health departments use HPP funding to develop and expand health care preparedness capabilities through nearly 500 regional health care coalitions, whose members include hospitals. PHEP funding supports additional public health preparedness and response capabilities among state and local health departments.
