Children’s Hospital Colorado in Aurora, CO, will receive the 2015 AHA-McKesson Quest for Quality Prize on Thursday for its sustainable and pervasive achievements with respect to the Institute of Medicine’s six quality aims of safe, effective, efficient, timely, patient-centered and equitable health care. The $75,000 annual prize honors leadership and innovation in quality improvement and safety. In addition, Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC, will receive a $12,500 finalist prize; and Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, OH, and Schneck Medical Center in Seymour, IN, will receive Citations of Merit. “Every hospital can take a page from the book these hospitals are writing each and every day on how to provide quality care,” said AHA President and CEO Rich Umbdenstock. “Through impressive engagement of patients, families, their boards and their whole staff, these hospitals are excelling in safe, patient-centered, effective, efficient, timely and equitable care.” The awards, supported by a grant from McKesson Corp., will be presented at the Health Forum-AHA Leadership Summit in San Francisco.
