Employment at the nation's hospitals rose by 0.25% in October to a seasonally adjusted 5,117,200 people, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. That's 12,700 more people than in September and 144,200 more than a year ago. Without the seasonal adjustment, which removes the effect of fluctuations due to seasonal events, hospitals employed 5,121,300 people in October – 13,500 more than in September and 141,500 more than a year ago. The nation's overall unemployment rate fell by 0.1 percentage point in October to 4.9%.
