CMS issues updated snapshot of open enrollment activity through Dec. 10, 2016
More than 4 million people selected a health plan through HealthCare.gov Nov. 1 through Dec. 10, about 250,000 more than during the same period last year, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services announced today. Nearly three-quarters of those selecting plans were renewing coverage and the rest were new consumers. Thirty-nine states are using HealthCare.gov for 2017 open enrollment, which runs through Jan. 31. Consumers must enroll by Dec. 15 for coverage starting Jan. 1. Today’s enrollment update includes data on plan selections for top Designated Market Areas, which are local media markets.
