CDC reports on 2016 Zika achievements, future priorities
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Friday issued a report summarizing national and international public health efforts to address the Zika virus following its introduction in the Americas. The agency said related future priorities include continuing to protect pregnant women and infants from infection; developing improved diagnostics; collaborating with partners to accelerate vaccine development; and improving surveillance and control strategies, contraceptive access and understanding of long-term outcomes for infants exposed to the virus in utero.
