Hospitals and health systems can apply to participate in the Million Hearts Hospitals & Health Systems Recognition Program, which will recognize organizations working to improve cardiovascular health in their communities, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced yesterday. The first round of applications is due April 30. “High-performing hospitals and health systems can have lifesaving impact preventing heart attacks and stroke,” said Laurence Sperling, M.D., executive director of Million Hearts, a CDC and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services initiative to prevent one million heart attacks and strokes over five years.
