HRSA proposes changes to rural designation for grants

The Health Resources and Services Administration’s Federal Office of Rural Health Policy is accepting comments through Oct. 23 on proposed changes to how it designates geographic areas eligible for its rural health grants. 

The proposal would add outlying Metropolitan Statistical Area counties with no urbanized area population to the list of areas eligible to apply for or receive services funded by the rural health grants. According to the HRSA notice, additional counties would gain eligibility for rural health grants under the proposed changes.
