CMS estimates national health spending grew 7.5% in 2023
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services estimates national health spending grew 7.5% in 2023, reflecting increases in insurance growth, the agency reported June 12 in Health Affairs. CMS projects national health spending will average 5.6% per year through 2032, led by a 7.4% increase in Medicare spending as the last baby boomers enroll in the program.
