House E&C Committee advances reconciliation bill

The House Energy and Commerce Committee today advanced by a 30-24 vote along party lines its portion of the fiscal year 2025 reconciliation bill following a markup that lasted more than 24 hours. The committee was instructed to reduce deficits by $880 billion, with significant Medicaid changes and cuts being considered. The AHA sent a detailed statement to the committee with comments on certain sections of the bill, including potential changes to policies related to provider taxes and state directed payments, among other provisions.
