The federal government shutdown is expected to continue into next week as the Senate adjourned Oct. 9 after failing to pass spending legislation; senators plan to return Oct. 14. Meanwhile, the House currently has no plans to return to session next week. The Senate Oct. 9 failed to adopt the House-passed continuing resolution to fund the government following a seventh vote on the bill. Senate Republicans and Democrats have yet to begin formal negotiations toward a deal. The AHA will continue monitoring the situation and will provide updates as information becomes available.
