A measles outbreak that reached 997 cases in South Carolina has been declared over, as the 42-day threshold with no new reported cases was reached April 26. The outbreak began in October 2025. The state’s Department of Public Health noted sharp increases in administration of the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine during the outbreak. Vaccinations statewide rose 31.1% compared to 2025. Spartanburg County, where the outbreak was centered, had vaccinations increase by 93.6%.

A measles outbreak in Utah that began in June 2025 has grown to 625 cases as of April 28, according to the state’s Department of Health and Human Services. Of those, 428 cases have been reported this year. Nationally, there have been 1,814 confirmed measles cases in 2026, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The vaccination status of 92% of cases is unvaccinated or unknown.
