Maine governor orders state to implement Medicaid expansion

After taking office last week, Maine Gov. Janet Mills signed an executive order directing Maine officials to swiftly begin implementing a November 2017 ballot measure expanding Medicaid eligibility to qualified low-income residents. “More than a year ago, the people of Maine voted to expand Medicaid,” she said. “Today, my Administration is taking the long-awaited steps to fulfill their will.” The Maine Hospital Association supported the ballot measure.
