House votes to approve disaster relief package
The House last night voted 251-169 to approve a bill providing $81 billion in additional emergency assistance for recent hurricanes and wildfires affecting Texas, Florida, California, Louisiana, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Among other provisions, the bill includes $27.6 billion for the Federal Emergency Management Agency, $26.1 billion for the Community Development Block Grant Program and $12.11 billion for the Army Corps of Engineers. The Senate is not expected to take up the package until 2018.
