CMS Announces State Grants to Implement Insurance Market Reforms
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services yesterday announced funding for states to plan and implement certain health insurance market reforms under the Affordable Care Act. The agency’s Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight expects to award a total of about $8.1 million in funds by June 5 for activities to help states “ensure their laws, regulations and procedures are in line with the federal requirements, and enhance the states’ ability to effectively regulate their respective health insurance markets.” To apply, states must submit letters of intent by Feb. 26.
