A new online tool from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality allows users to compare county-level hospitalization rates for opioids, alcohol, stimulants and other drugs. “We believe AHRQ’s new resource will help communities better understand local challenges and support their efforts to formulate the most effective remedies to reduce substance abuse, including the opioid crisis,” said AHRQ Director Gopal Khanna. The agency also has updated its map showing trends and variation in opioid-related hospital stays to include county-specific data for 32 states.
