AHRQ announces funding for HAI, antibiotic resistance research

Public or non-profit community-based organizations may apply for funding to support innovative research proposals to prevent health care-associated infections or combat antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Applications are due by May 25 for demonstration and dissemination projects to prevent HAIs or combat antibiotic resistance, and by June 5 for large research projects to prevent HAIs or combat antibiotic resistance. HAI projects in both grant categories should demonstrate new ways to detect, prevent and reduce HAIs, the agency said. Antibiotic resistance projects should address ways to promote appropriate antibiotic use, reduce the transmission of resistant bacteria or prevent HAIs.
